Six-goal difference as the Pharaohs beat Chile in Egypt 2021 opener

The Egyptian team scored a 35:29 victory over Chile in the opening match of group G of the 27th Men's Handball World Championship.

The Pharaohs dominated the first half as they took the lead 18:12 despite Chile's attempts to narrow down the score margin.

The hosts maintained their lead in the second half, which has also seen the Chileans showing progress in an attempt to catch up with their opponents, through counter attacks. However, the Pharaohs' experience paid off as they wrapped up the game in their favour.

With this victory, Egypt leads the Group G with two points while Chile remains pointless.

Super star Yehia El Deraa was named Man of the Match after leading his team to an impressive win, scoring six goals from six throws.

Egypt and Chile play in Group G which also includes Sweden and North Macedonia, which replaced the Czech Republic who withdrew after some of their players have tested positive of COVID-19.

On Thursday, Group G matches continue when Sweden takes on North Macedonia at the Cairo Stadium Indoor Complex. The game throws off at 21:30 CLT.
