Road to Egypt 2021: Iceland booked their place in the 27th Men’s Handball World Championship after the cancellation of the European qualifiers, as they had been ranked 11th at the Men’s EHF EURO 2020.

History: Iceland have made 20 appearances in the World Championships. Their best achievement was in 1997 when they finished in fifth place.

Iceland have appeared seven times in the Summer Olympic Games, first in 1972, and their best result was in Beijing 2008 when they took home the silver medal.

After winning the Silver Medal in Beijing Olympics, the government in Iceland decided to give all the country a paid vacation to celebrate their first ever medal in the Olympic Games.

Strákarnir okkar, translated as “Our Boys,” have made 11 appearances in the European Championship and they claimed third place in 2010.
