Germany in awe of the Draw Ceremony

President of the German Handball Federation Andreas Michelmann, said that Egypt has organised a dazzling Draw Ceremony and has thus proved that it is capable of successfully hosting major events.

"The setting of the Draw was impressive. Egypt has shown how such a world event can work and can still be held under strict preventive and precautionary measures related to the coronavirus pandemic in these hard times and I hope this World Championship would enlighten this tough period ."

National team coach Alfred Gislason reacted to his team's position in the group. "It's a nice group. Hungary were very strong at the recent European Championship, I don't know the debutants Uruguay and Cape Verde yet. The next stages of the World Championship could be more difficult for us than at the other half of the tournament." The German head coach concluded.

Germany are considered one of the most successful teams heading to Egypt 2021, having won three World Championships and two European Championship titles so far.

Germany made 10 appearances in the Summer Olympics, starting with their participation in 1936 where they took home the Gold Medal.

They have also participated in 24 editions of the Handball World Championship, notching their three wins in 1938, 1978, and 2007.

Die Nationalmannschaft reached Egypt 2021 after the cancellation of European qualifiers, as they came fifth at the EHF EURO 2020.
