Denmark v Sweden: The road to Egypt 2021 final

Sweden and Denmark will face off at the 27th Men’s Handball World Championship – Egypt 2021 final game at the Cairo Stadium Sports Hall on Sunday.
The Bengan Boys have booked their place in Egypt 2021 final after claiming a big 32-26 victory over in the semifinals on Friday, while Denmark enjoyed a narrow 35:33 win over Spain.
Egypt is hosting the 27th Men’s Handball World Championship from 13 to 31 January, with 32 teams participating - a record number of teams - despite the coronavirus pandemic, while adhering to the precautionary measures against the virus.
Denmark’s road to the final
The World Championship title holders, Denmark started their mission in the ongoing Men’s Handball World Championship in Group D of the preliminary round as they smashed Bahrain 34:20 in their first show at the Pharaohs’ land.
They also defeated DR Congo 39:19 in the second game of the preliminary round before beating topflight Argentina 31:20 to finish this stage in the driving seat of Group D as well as reaching the main round with full mark.
The Danish Dynamite have been drawn in Group II of the main round as they started their mission with a 32:23 victory over Qatar then they defeated Japan 34:27 before completing their winning series by claiming a 38:26 victory over Croatia.
Denmark reached the quarterfinals of Egypt 2021 with a full mark as they claimed victories in all games they played in the preliminary and main rounds.
The 2019 World Championship title holders, Denmark faced their first tough test against hosts Egypt in the tournament’s quarterfinals as the game needed penalties to be settled.
Hosts Egypt put in a spirited display but ended up losing 39:38 to holders Denmark after a dramatic quarter-final game, as the Pharaohs were within touching distance of causing a huge upset after two overtimes in a marathon contest, having led 35:34 with only a few seconds remaining.
Denmark prevailed in the shootout claiming 39:38 victory over Egypt to set up a semifinal game against Spain.
They defeated Spain 35:33 in the semi-final to reach their second World Championship final in a row.
"The game against Egypt in the quarterfinal was a very difficult game, then this game against Spain," Denmark coach Nikolaj Jacobsen said after the game against Spain.
Sweden road to the final
Sweden team opened the World Championship campaign in Group G of the preliminary round as they North Macedonia 32:20 in their first sow ate the prestigious tournament.
The Bengan Boys defeated Chile 41:26 in their second game before snatching a narrow 24:23 win over Egypt to secure a place in the main round.
The Sweden made a poor start in the main draw as the held to 26:26 draw with Belarus then they drew again with Slovenia before they returned to winning ways by the 34-20 victory over Russian Handball Federation.
Sweden reached the quarterfinals of the World Championship after leading Group IV in the main round with 8 points.
They enjoyed a big win over Qatar with a score of 35:23 to ease their way to the semifinals as they again defeated France 32:26 to reach the tournament’s final for the first time in 20 years.
The four-time World Championship winners, Sweden claimed their last title in 1999 edition that was held in Egypt.
