World Men's Handball Championship trophy in Egypt

The 27th World Men's Handball Championship trophy has arrived in Egypt, hours before the tournament commences on the 13th of January, due to end on the 31st. 32 teams will be participating for the first time ever.

Egypt 2021 Deputy Director Khaled Fathy stated that the trophy will be transported by the local organising committee to a safe place before presenting it to the eventual winner.

The 27th World Handball Championship will take place in four different halls; Cairo International Stadium Hall, the Administrative Capital Hall, the Dr Hassan Moustafa Indoor Hall, and the Borg El Arab Stadium Hall

Historically, the tournament had never featured more than 24 teams with an increase of eight teams on the previous tournament.

The opening match sees Egypt take on Chile on Wednesday at the Cairo International Stadium Hall.
