After beating Austria in the President’s Cup final, Tunisia coach Sami Saïdi has praised the performance of his team’s players, confirming they played a superb game and deserved the victory.

Tunisia defeated Austria 37:33 in the final game of President’s Cup in the 27th IHF Men’s Handball World Championship - Egypt 2021, at New Capital Sports Hall on Wednesday.

“I congratulate my team for beating Austria and snatching the President’s Cup title, as we played a brilliant game with full concentration during the 60 minutes against Austria,” Saïdi told the post game’s press conference.

“It was difficult to prepare the players for the game especially after failing to reach the main round,” the Tunisia coach added.

“We prepared well for today’s game and we concentrated on the play despite the absence of more talented players,” 

Meanwhile, Tunisian captain Oussama Jaziri has expressed his pleasure with the victory over Austria as well as claiming the title of the President’s Cup.

“We concentrated on the game and we dominated it so we succeeded in achieving the President’s Cup,” Jaziri told a press conference.

“We are very relieved now as we have the ability to improve our performance in the coming tournaments,” 

On the other side, Austria coach Aleš Pajovič conformed his team played against a tough opponent in the President’s Cup final game.

“We fought all the 60 minutes of the game but finally we lost to Tunisia,” Pajovič said.

“All what I care about is the performance of my players as it is equal to finish the tournament in the 25th or 26th places,”

Meanwhile, Austria skipper Tobias Wagner agreed with his team’s tactician, confirming his team faced a tough opponent.

“We started the game in a poor performance, moreover in the second period we missed the ability to make a comeback for the game,” Wagner said.

Austrian left winger Sebastian Frimmel has praised the performance of the Tunisian team, confirming the made use of the mistakes his team did in the game and succeeded to achieve the victory.

Tunisian left back Mosbah Sanai, who claimed the ‘Player of the Match Award’, confirmed it was better to for his team to qualify for the main round of the World Championship but they won the President’s Cup title and they have to discuss the matter in a step to improve the team’s performance in the coming events.
